VE Day

Victory in Europe Day, more commonly known as VE Day, celebrates the end of World War 2 in Europe.

VE Day was declared on May 8 1945, a day after Nazi Germany unconditionally surrendered to the Allied forces, and has been marked every year since. Huge celebrations took place across Europe and America, with thousands of people famously gathering outside Buckingham Palace. The 75th anniversary of VE Day is in 2020.
