Tipping Point viewers were left baffled this evening after a contestant made a blunder on a geography question.

Hopeful contestant Yvonne immediately struck up a rapport with host Ben Shephard, and flexed her impressive knowledge throughout the show on topics ranging from Shakespeare to pop culture.

She was even deferred to by her fellow contestants on a number of occasions, and headed home at the end of the show with a not-too-shabby £2,750.

But one area she wasn't so hot on was African geography - after questioning whether Mont Blanc was on the continent.

The famous French Alpine peak was Yvonne's answer after Ben asked her which mountain marked Africa's highest point - the real answer being Kilimanjaro.

Ben posed the geography question after Yvonne's knowledge impressed him

Fans took to Twitter with humorous takes on Yvonne's answer.

One laughed: "Mont Blanc...that well known African peak."

Another tweeted: "Some great answers Yvonne, but you did say Mont Blanc was in Africa."

A third chuckled: "Mont Blanc has been relocated to Africa apparently."

A fourth shared a snap of Mont Blanc from a plane window, joking: "I flew over Mont Blanc and the Alps this morning...didn't realise the Milan-London route took me via Africa."

Yvonne went for Mont Blanc - rather than Kilimanjaro

She later proved she was a good sport as she took a humorous crack at herself by selecting the geography category.

And despite her earlier gaffe, she got the question correct.

Tipping Point has been airing historic episodes after filming was forced to a grinding halt earlier this year amid the coronavirus crisis.

But despite months in the dark, diehard fans can rest assured that new episodes are on their way after ITV announced a fresh series as part of it's autumn slate.

A spokesperson told that a new gameshow would also be airing.

"New for afternoons alongside brand new series of Judge Rinder, Tipping Point and The Chase is a new quiz show, Winning Combination, presented by actor and comedian Omid Djalili," they revealed.
